Our Privacy Policy Statement
Valley National Bank respects your right to the confidentiality
of your personal information and we value the trust you have placed
in us. We want you to understand how and why we collect, store and
use non-public personal information about you. We want to assure
you that we observe strict measures of security, confidentiality
and privacy with respect to this sensitive information.
Our Privacy Policy applies to existing and former consumer customers;
however it does not apply to commercial accounts. We do, however,
take precautions to protect commercial information as well.
Collecting Information
We collect and use various types of information from and about
you; however, we limit the information to the minimum required to
accurately identify you as our customer, to deliver our services,
to develop and market products and services, and to manage our business
properly.
We obtain information about you from the following sources:
- Your applications or other request forms for our products or
services.
- Your accounts and transactions with Valley or our affiliates.
- Your credit history from credit reporting agencies, public
records, market research and other companies.
- Information we receive if you use the Internet to apply for
or use any of our products or services.
Sharing Information
We do not share or sell information about Valley customers or former
customers to non-affiliated third parties (except as explained below).
However, we do share information about our customers with our affiliates
to enable us to provide you with additional convenience, to serve
your financial needs better and to make you aware of our special
offers, products and services.
Valley owns a number of other financial companies with which we
share information including insurance agency, investment advisory, brokerage,
asset management, mortgage / loan servicing and title insurance
firms. Some examples include companies doing business under the
names New Century Asset Management Inc., Hallmark Capital Management Inc., Valley National Title Services
and Masters Coverage Corp.
Valley uses carefully selected non-affiliated companies to perform
services such as check printing, data processing and direct marketing,
which enable us to provide our full range of products and services
to you. We provide only the information they need to offer our services
to you. All these companies must conform to our confidentiality
requirements and our Privacy Policy and are not permitted to use
your information or contact our customers for any purpose other
than to carry out the tasks specified by Valley.
Your Choice to Limit Marketing
You may limit our affiliates' ability to market their products
or services to you. This marketing is based on information that
we share with our affiliates, such as your income, your account
history with us and your credit score.
Your decision to limit marketing offers from our affiliates will
not expire unless you revoke it in writing. This limitation does
not apply in certain circumstances, such as; if you currently do
business with one of our affiliates, or if you ask to receive information
or offers from them.

If you prefer that we do not share information about you with companies
in our corporate family, other than information permitted or required

Customer Confidentiality and Information Security
The relationships we have and the financial records we maintain
on our customers are confidential and are protected by comprehensive
systems and selective staff access. Accordingly, we permit only
authorized employees, who are trained in the proper handling of customer
information, to have access to that information. However, we may
be legally required to divulge certain information about our customers
in response to a court order, to prevent fraud or to comply with
a requirement of a government agency.
